Elan allows non-IT specialists to create e-learning, e-assessment and online survey materials. These materials can be highly interactive, including animation, sound, speech and video. Programming and scripting skills are not required — if your staff can use Microsoft Word then then can use Question Tools Elan. Delivery is easy, as trainees need only a web browser. Both individual and group results are automatically collected and analysed.
Problem: Traditional e-learning.

The move to e-learning and e-assessment is daunting and potentially risky. Contracting with outside suppliers, a large programme and substantial budget do not make for a speedy project, nor one that is easily controlled.

Delivery can prove the greatest headache. Contractors frequently take an approach that requires a web browser plug-in or other installation on client machines. Network managers often block such installations on the grounds of security.

After delivery, materials may need updating, and these changes need to be planned as part of a programme negotiated with contractors. Even correcting misspelt words can be difficult, as the lack of a spell-checker in the contractor’s authoring tool often comes to light.

Solution: Question Tools Elan.

Question Tools Elan allows your team to create their own materials. It speeds up development by removing programming and scripting, allowing those creating the training and assessment to concentrate on how it works and looks. Even if you decide to hand some of this work to an outside contractor, you will still be able to alter these materials in-house easily and quickly. Instead of being tied to a supplier and a project plan, you have a range of options.

You can deliver interactive content using just a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Opera. The easy creation process makes early trials and tests of your materials a realistic possibility. Changing the materials involves no more effort than changing a Word file. Collecting and analysing results is done automatically with NetElan.

Costs

Question Tools Elan is tailored to meet the needs of each organization. The yearly costs depend upon the support required, the number of authoring stations, the number of trainees, and the range of Question Tools technology and installation required. Typically, however, the cost per trainee is less than the price of a modest training book. There are some indicative costs here.
