Editing

Dragging

A lot of effort has gone into making screens as easy to arrange and edit as possible. You can arrange Text Areas, Pictures, Menus, Answer Fields and the different types of buttons just by clicking on them and dragging.

Resizing

Objects that can be resized can be altered by clicking and dragging on their left and bottom sides. For example, you can resize Text Areas and Answer Fields in this way.

Grids

You can display a grid, and get objects to snap to it (see the Screen tab of the Question Inspector). There are Align and Distribute commands available in the Edit menu. These have no effect on objects that have been locked to prevent accidental changes in position.

Arrow Keys and Grouping

You can move objects just one pixel at a time by using the left, right, up and down arrows on your keyboard. In addition, objects can be grouped so that they move together when just one is clicked and dragged.

Constraining Movement

If you begin dragging an object and then hold down the Shift key on your keyboard this will constrain the object so that it only moves up and down or left and right (depending upon the direction you first dragged).

Copy and Paste Objects

You can also open multiple screens at once, and cut, copy and paste objects between them. When you cut, copy and paste objects you copy all aspects of the object, including marks, answers, and in the case of Drag objects, the target areas for a drag.

Duplicating Objects

If you hold down the Alt key on your keyboard and then click on and drag an object you will create a duplicate object (it is a fast way of duplicating Text Areas, Buttons, etc.)

Moving Drag Targets

There are efficient methods of moving multiple Drag targets — including Shift-clicking to select multiple targets to move at once, and a method of selecting just one Drag target and moving all of the targets together. Click here for more information.

Easy Text Editing

You can double-click on a Text Area to edit its contents. To edit the next Text Area just press the Tab key on your keyboard.

Easy Conversion

The Pasteboard can be used to copy text into the correct places — just select and drag. If you have a lot of text to convert into screens then it is a fast and efficient tool. Click here for more information.

Copying Text

If you click on a Text Area with the right mouse button you will be able to copy the text to any other Text Area, or the Results Text for a Button, Drag, Menu or Answer Field. If you are editing a Text Area you can select portions of the text are right click on it to send it to other Text Areas and Results Text for objects.
