List Inspector: Categories

The Categories tab allows you to enter the names of the categories you want to use for classifying your screens. The names you enter here will appear in the category list in the Lists tab. Click here for information on this.

Random selection

You can use the Options tab to tell Question Tools to randomly select just some of the screens in a list. If screens are assigned to categories then screens will be randomly selected evenly across the categories. You can find out more about the Number displayed option here.

If you wish to bias the selection then you can enter numbers in brackets after the category. For example, you might enter categories of Numerical (4) and Formulae (2). If you do this then Question Tools will randomly select 4 questions from the Numerical category, two screens from the Formulae category, and will then go on to select the remainder evenly across the categories.

This option will only work if Number displayed is used as an option. The ability to bias the selection is limited to the Developer Edition.
