How do we upgrade from NetSeries 2.0?

In short, you make a copy of your old NetSeries installation, then uninstall it. Install NetSeries version 3.0, and replace the folders called qtdata and qtcontent with the folders from your old version 2.0 folders.

Here are the stops in more detail:

  1. Find your copy of NetResult, NetTest or whichever version you have running, and close it down. It is installed by default in C:\Program Files\Question Tools Net\
  2. Make a copy of the entire folder (i.e. everything in the folder called Question Tools Net).
  3. Uninstall NetSeries version 2.0.
  4. Install NetSeries 3.0. Make sure you install the same edition you presently have. If you have a serial number for NetResult, but you install NetEnterprise, then it is not going to accept your serial number. If you have a serial number for NetResult then please make sure you install NetResult. Installation will also allow you to install it as an application or as a Windows Service. If you do not know what a Windows Service is then it might be better to just install it as an application. If you do install it as a service then make sure that you stop the service from running after installation is complete.
  5. Delete the newly installed folders called qtdata and qtcontent. Replace them with the folders with the same name from your version 2.0 installation.
  6. Start NetSeries, either as an application, or as a Windows service if you have used this installation option.
