Creating content in NetSeries (advanced)Name. This is the text the user sees as the title of the test, lesson or survey. Can resume sets the maximum time in which a user can return to a test or survey and resume it. This is useful if you run a group test, and someone switches off a computer or manages to disconnect in some other way. The user can log back on (using another computer if need be), select the test or survey, and will be able to continue from where she or he left off. This setting specifies the number of minutes the user has to log back on before the result is considered complete by default. It is probably best to not set this figure too high, as if a group of users end a test but one or more forget to press the Finished button, then those results will be considered incomplete until the time limit you set here has elapsed. This setting effectively determines how long you will have to wait before their unfinished result is considered complete. A very high setting can leave results in limbo for days or even weeks. Verification. If set to Before Test then a student/trainee/user will not be able to start the test until a tutor or other member of staff has entered their username and password to verify the user's identity. If it is set to After Test then a tick box is shown by each result allowing tutors and others to indicate that they have verified the result. Manual Adjustment. This determines whether marks can be adjusted once a test is complete. Adjusted marks display with an A in front of them to indicate that they are not the original, computer-generated mark. Another setting that can only be seen while the item is in Draft status is Manual Entry Only. If this is selected then the test becomes a manual-only test. In effect, this is a means of keeping manual results in NetSeries alongside the computer-based test scores. Searchable determines whether a user can search and find the content — in other words, whether the content will be listed for the user to select. You can make content available (i.e. Published and Open from the Status menu), but still keep it hidden by turning Searchable off, and users can still use the Direct Link to reach the content. A common use for this is where you want a test or survey to be taken, and then you email or publish the Direct Link so that users can go straight to the test or survey. All Attempts Button. If selected this places an extra button beside the test so that a tutor can view all attempts instead of just the best result from each trainee, user/student. Dependent upon allows you to select a piece of content the user must have taken before they can access this content. It is a means of chaining content together — ensuring that content is taken in order. Minimum Percentage. This works together with the b>Dependent upon setting to allow you to set a minimum percentage a student/user/trainee must achieve in the dependent content before they can take this item of content. If the item that must be taken first is a survey or lesson then the Minimum Percentage setting has no effect — the student/trainee/user need only have started the lesson or survey and pressed the Finish button. Performance Bars, Labels and Colours allow you to set the percentages where bars change colour, and the labels that appear in the results for the student/trainee/user dependent upon the percentage score they achieve. Direct link shows the url (the link) you can copy and paste into an email or onto a web site that will give users direct access to this survey, test or lesson. |
