What does the History window do?

The History window allows you to look back at the last 50 actions for any particular screen file. It is a glorified undo and redo feature, that allows you to step forwards and backwards in virtual time.

Note that if you step backwards, and then do something (i.e. add another action), such as move an object, then all of the actions in the future — the actions you have just undone — will be removed.
