Screen Inspector: Animation

In the Developer Edition shapes, pictures and text areas can be animated. They can move smoothly from one place to another, jump to a different location, as well as hide and show themselves. This allows you to develop tutorial and simulation material.

The Animation tab shows the steps in the animation for the selected text area, picture or shape. Right-click to add a step, or amend an existing step. To set the place where the object should move to, simply click on a step, and drag the text area, shape or picture to where you want it to be.

The numbers by the side of each step in the animation show the time in seconds for that particular step. There is no upper limit on the number of seconds, although the smallest time period is 0.01 seconds. The exception to this is where the Jump To command is used, and then the number specifies the step in the animation to move to (so loops are possible).

Limitations. Animation will work in Editor in play mode, in Exam, as well as in a web browser (including Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape, AOL, Mozilla and FireFox). The animation is not Flash-based, and so the Flash plug-in is not needed. However, animations in feedbacks will only work in Editor and Exam — they will not work in a web browser.
